West Yorkshire Support Group Meeting 22nd of March

The spring West Yorkshire vasculitis support group was held as usual at the Gomersal Park Hotel on Sunday the 22nd of March. We had a great turnout of about 25 people for this meeting. Many familiar faces and a few new ones who had recently found us. It was great to spend time just chatting with everyone about all things vasculitis.

Lynne had of course prepared a wonderful selection of cakes for sale again. We did a brisk trade in these and there were very few left at the end of the day !

We started the meeting on a few news items with  Richard outlining our plans for promoting the Yorkshire support groups and the new website. He advertised the upcoming Vasculitis UK Symposium and AGM (see the links for details). And finally we gave a plug for the forthcoming informal coffee and lunch meeting that will take place on the 26th of April over in York (see here for details),

Mindfulness

Richard then handed over to our speaker for the day, Wendy Murray.

Wendy is a CBT therapist working in primary care in Bradford. She gave a very interesting presentation about using Mindfulness techniques to help manage anxiety, depression and pain in long term conditions like vasculitis. The presentation is now on the useful documents section of the website along with the associated handouts.

We hope everyone who came along enjoyed the talk and found it useful to meet and chat to other people living with vasculitis. Keep an eye on our news section for further meetings in Yorkshire later in the year.
